Volunteer Information

The Village is indebted to the countless volunteers who assist us throughout the year! We appreciate the support our volunteers provide, and we think they may gain as much from their experiences with our Villagers as the Villagers gain from the volunteers’ selfless giving of their time and talent.

We welcome all individuals and organizations to join us in our efforts to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. We encourage you to review the volunteer opportunity descriptions below and contact us if you are interested in helping. Please note a required application process must be completed for our on-site volunteers.

The Village Thrift Shop

The Village Thrift Shop is a great place to volunteer and is always looking for help. The Thrift Shop is donations-based so the proceeds go back The Village Centers. We need help with cleaning around the store, assisting in collecting and sorting donations, and helping customers. Volunteer shifts are available every day of the week during regular store hours. Please visit The Village Thrift Shop page under About Us-->Locations for more information about store hours and how to get there.

Classroom Helper

Classroom helpers work in one of our classrooms assisting with a variety of tasks which may include reading, math, hand-over-hand learning, and playing bingo and other games.

We also need volunteers to accompany our Villagers on outings as an extra pair of eyes and ears! Volunteers are also needed to help with set up and clean up of our cooking classes. All Classroom Helpers are supervised and supported by a staff member.

We enjoy people from the community spending time in the classrooms because it makes the circle of friends the Villagers have that much bigger and more meaningful! The Kyle B. Multipurpose Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and we welcome volunteers at any time during the day.

Village at Stoney Glen

The residents and staff of Village at Stoney Glen look forward to volunteers coming in on Saturdays and Sundays! We have opportunities available to spend some quality time with our Villagers, including watching the “big game” on T.V., playing billiards, board games and card games, and taking a turn on the Nintendo Wii.

Perhaps you would you enjoy creating a “girls only” afternoon or evening to spend some time painting fingernails, fixing hair, and settling in to watch a movie complete with popcorn.

We welcome all of your fun and creative ideas for volunteering your time creating special memories with Villagers at Village at Stoney Glen.

The Village Main Center

There are numerous opportunities at The Village Centers Day Programs to make a difference. We need volunteers to help deep clean on a semi-annual basis, wash and detail our 10 vehicles, wash windows, pressure wash, paint, and the list goes on! Volunteer sessions for projects such as these are available to be completed throughout the week. Everything we can get a volunteer to assist with versus paying for it means more money goes back into our programs to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
