The Village Centers is excited and cautiously optimistic as we watch our community start to reopen for business. We have heard from the majority of our families, via the recent survey, how they are feeling about The Village Center’s operations during the COVID-19 crisis. Many of our clients are anxiously awaiting our return, and others are continuing to make decisions with a considerable amount of caution.

We are dedicated to finding ways to operate as safely as possible for our clients and staff. We are currently working to bring back our team members and provide the necessary training to support a safer environment for everyone.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we endeavor to respond to a continually evolving series of challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have several resources to share with you today. The first two are about your loved one’s eligibility to receive the stimulus check and what is considered allowable spending. These PDFs are from the Texas Long-Term Care Ombudsman and the links are at the bottom of this email. Here is a link directly to the IRS site for non-filers that may also be helpful https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here.

We want to help you reinforce good hygiene habits with handwashing at home and when you have to go out. We found a practical step by step picture guide for handwashing that you can print out and put by a sink or use as a visual prompt. We also have a social story about why people are wearing masks and gloves when they are in the grocery store or out in the community. For more information on how to protect yourself and others during the COVID-19 pandemic please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html.

Finally, we want to share something fun. This Friday is National Donut Day! Did you know that you can get FREE donuts at Krispy Kreme shops all week and on Friday at Dunkin Donuts? In honor of Donut Day, we will have a specially prepared Zoom Villager TV on Friday, June 5th, at 1:00 pm. Attached is a coloring sheet you can download and color to share this Friday.
