The Afterschool Program, serves as an before- and after-school care program for children and adults, ages 14 to 22, with developmental disabilities. Currently, the program is housed in designated classrooms at The Village Day Program facility.
Parents are comforted in knowing that their children are receiving quality care and specialized activities daily. The program is aimed to help continue the learning process after the school day is over. Each participant is given the opportunity to learn skills and to be in a positive atmosphere to develop healthy peer relationships and be a part of an inclusive community. It has been found that children placed in an afterschool program are more socialized and adjust better to different situations.
The curriculum of our Afterschool Program strives to help teach and enrich participants’ self-help and social skills in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. One parent explained that the program had allowed their family more flexibility and less worry, knowing that their child was with like-minded peers and in the hands of caring and trained staff.
The Afterschool Program follows the Humble Independent School District calendar. During the school year, the program runs from 2:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M.. During holidays, including Spring Break, Thanksgiving and Winter Break, hours are 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for school aged children 17 and older. During the summer, the program’s hours are from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for school aged children 17 and older, and 12:00-4:00 pm twice a week for school aged children 5-16.
