STEPS TO INDEPENDENCE
Village at Stoney Glen provides independent living opportunities and transition services in a beautiful residential setting for adults with developmental disabilities. It is designed for individuals who are taking a major step on the road to independence, moving out of their family home for the first time. The staff offers support and training in a home-like setting to individuals who have basic self-care skills. Family interaction and participation are welcomed as our residents transition from the family home to greater independence while continuing to live, work, and worship in their own community.
Village at Stoney Glen is affiliated with The Village, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to enable individuals with disabilities to reach their maximum potential. The Center provides a Day Habilitation program, Supported Employment services through a contract with the Texas Department of Rehabilitative Services, services that transition individuals from school to work in collaboration with the local school district, transportation, respite, after-school care, and family support services.
Whether an individual is leaving home for the first time or has lived away from home in the past, Stoney Glen residents are given the proper balance of structure and assistance necessary to help them reach their goals of more independent living.
