Clubs & Activities

The Village is proud to offer an array of clubs and activities for our clients each week. The clubs range in interests from fine arts, physical fitness, arts & crafts, foreign language and more! By offering these activities to each Villager, we are able to allow each client to have a choice in what interests them. If you have any questions about our clubs and activities, please contact Jennifer Hadley, Activities Coordinator.

The Village Choir: The choir meets every Monday and Wednesday morning to rehearse for 30 minutes. Villagers are led by choral directors Sheila Childers and Lori Barbee and sing a variety of music. At least twice a year, the choir holds performances for both their peers and the community.

Scrapbook/Photography Club: Our Scrapbook and Photography club meets the 2nd and 3rd Friday of each month. It is led by one of our best volunteers, Cher Pope. In the Scrapbook and Photography club, Villagers capture memories and then use their creative talents to put together a Scrapbook of our activities throughout the year.

Volunteers for Animal Protection (VAP): VAP is a local animal shelter that works to place dogs and cats in new homes. Our clients visit the shelter to play with the animals and volunteer their time toward the mission of helping animals in our community. VAP meets every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

Society of St. Stephen: On the first Tuesday of every month, Villagers volunteer their time at Society of St. Stephen, a local ministry focused on providing food, clothing and financial assistance to local families.

Aktion Club: The Village Aktion Club is a service group sponsored by Kingwood Kiwanis. Villagers meet on the second Thursday of each month to complete service projects and have lunch. The mission of the Aktion Club is to serve their community one person and one child at a time.

Personal Fitness: The Village’s Personal Trainer, Jessica Greenhaw, visits our center twice a week. On Tuesday’s, Jessica leads fitness from 10-11am and on Wednesdays, she does stretching and range of motion exercises.

Spanish Club: (TBA) Some clients have expressed interest in starting a Spanish Club. We are in the process of determining a level of interest, club leaders and appropriate material.

Job Club: Our job club, hosted by Employment Advantage, our supported employment division, meets regularly to discuss all aspects of employment. Topics covered range from interviewing for a new job to success stories on the job, and even discussing potential problems an employee may face. Members of the club feel supported by other who are also working in the community. Contact Mary Ciura for more information.
