Achieve Pre-Vocational Program
Base Program – 8:00 AM – 2:15 PM
The Achieve Pre-Vocational program participants will arrive and enjoy social time before morning group activities begin. This time will be used to get everyone ready to start their day.
Morning group activities consist of calendar and daily schedule review.
The groups will then attend a Physical Activity block. The Physical Activity block will included structured Physical Education, music and movement, outside activities, group relay games, and exercise videos. These activities will rotate daily so each Villager has the opportunity to participate in a variety of movement and exercise.
Pre-Vocational Villagers will return to class for instructional time.
Core instruction consists of Functional Literacy, Practical Math, Life Skills, Vocation, and Wellness. During this time, lessons and activities will be structured to support specific learning needs. Pre-Vocational Villagers will be working to increase participation and generalize skills in both community and work environments. For example, some will be working toward identifying money, where others will work on purchasing skills.
The Pre-Vocational class will have the opportunity to practice vocational skills while rolling newspapers, as well as visiting and assistant at The Village Thrift Store, and other vocational opportunities as they present themselves.
Following core instruction, Villagers will continue with lifelong learning skills that can include computer use, current events, arts and crafts, as well as additional life/functional skills and activities.
